Pilot tests of the new polystyrene brand GPPS 535M, intended for manufacturers of refrigeration equipment, have been completed at the Plastics plant, PJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim.
The new polystyrene brand, developed by the plant’s specialists together with scientists of the company's scientific and technological center within the frame of the import substitution, is similar in its characteristics to a foreign polystyrene brand Styrolution crystal 165N of INEOS STYROLUTION.
120 tons of finished products had been produced during the tests, samples of which underwent extensive research at the scientific and technological center. During testing it was found that the molecular parameters of General Purpose Polystyrene 535M and Styrolution crystal 165N are comparable. In addition, the Nizhnekamsk polystyrene brand is characterized by a more stable melt flow and an increased level of physical and mechanical properties. Experts also noted the relatively high thermal (glass transition temperature) and thermal (oxidation onset temperature) properties of General Purpose Polystyrene 535M.
At present, end users are testing the new General Purpose Polystyrene of 535M brand.
The activities of PJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim involve the use of a large amount of water, which, after use undergoes treatment and disposal. It is the new technologies and methods for water purification that the specialists of the wastewater laboratory of the company's scientific and technological center (STC) are engaged in. Dozens of different physicochemical and biological methods, as well as devices for high-quality water purification, disposal of sewage sludge and gas emissions, have been developed and successfully implemented here.
Today, the priority area of the wastewater laboratory’s work is the treatment of wastewater and associated gas emissions using various microorganisms, whose vital activity is the result of wastes from petrochemical industries. Bacteria, utilizing various harmful substances from chemically contaminated wastewater, have been distinguished because of researches. The purification technologies are developed in detail on the Sartorius laboratory bioreactor and other recently purchased laboratory equipment.
Also, the laboratory performs studies on effluents from structural units of PJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim, using special techniques and test objects, and issues recommendations on how to neutralize them.
The S &T Centre microbiologists and biotechnologists made a huge contribution to the development of technology and commissioning of biofilters at biological treatment facilities, which helped to improve the air quality in the district. Biofilters are block boxes inhabited by special types of bacteria. These particular microorganisms neutralize unpleasant odors by feeding on volatile hydrocarbons. This technology is one of the best in Europe; gas emission cleaning efficiency reaches 95%.
These days the laboratory celebrates its 45th anniversary. The lab is founded in May 1975 for solving issues related to wastewater treatment. Lyubov Dubrovskaya was the first head of the laboratory. From 1983 to April 2013, Olga Yakusheva headed the laboratory, and then the young goal-oriented scientist Guzel Gilaeva took up the baton. Since 2019, the laboratory is by Valentina Nikolaevna Nikonorova, who has been working here since 1988.
Competence, outsight, responsibility, high professionalism are characteristic features of all laboratory staff, whose work created and is creating the entire experimental part of scientific developments regarding wastewater treatment. The environmental protection service, the water supply, sewerage and wastewater treatment departments, all the plants of PJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim closely work with the laboratory.

Today, May 7, employees of all branches of communication, radio engineering and radio journalism celebrate their professional holiday.
The communication service was introduced at Nizhnekamsk Chemical Plant in 1965. The first Head of Communication service shop No. 31 was Aleksey V. Chernikov, a professional having experience of a military front-line communication officer and work at industrial and power enterprises of the country. The first self-contained automatic exchange (ATS) with 1300 numbers of a step-by-step system at the Chemical plant was put into operation in September 1966.
Along with automatic telephone exchanges, Nizhnekamskneftekhim continuously developed communication and alarm networks for industrial and process purposes. It has always been a priority for the communication workshop to provide process workshops with all types of communication. In the 80s, yet the capacity of automatic telephone exchange was not enough due to a launch of New Production Facilities. In spring 1992, ATS-34, the first 11 km fiber-optic communication line was put into operation in the territory of Tatarstan with a digital compression system for 480 channels between NKNH and the city, under the guidance of V.G. Opanasenko. In addition, in August the same year, the quasielectronic ATSCE “Quant” started operating with a subscriber capacity of 6144 numbers and the status of a regional ATS, which was highly unusual for an industrial enterprise.
In 1992 thru 1995, various modern means of communication were put into operation as follows: a satellite communication station, a Motorola radiotelephone trunk system for 450 subscribers, and a Meridian-1 digital electronic telephone exchange with a capacity of 336 subscriber numbers. The complex simultaneously provided local telephone communication, intercity (international) satellite and radio communication with mobile facilities.
In 2010, SI-3000 digital telephone exchange was introduced having a wide range of multiservice functions (voice, Internet, video).
Now, by efforts of specialists from the Central Telecommunication and Communication Administration, headed by A.Yu. Polyakov, continuous operation of production and process communication is provided, support and maintenance of automatic telephone exchanges and digital stations, line-cable networks and communication facilities, dispatch switches, telephone subscriber equipment, speaker systems, alerts, radio communication and cellular communication of FMC closed group are carried out ".
The first broadcast of a weekly radio newspaper in the history of the Petrochemical Plant was introduced on 12 December 1967. Moreover, it started regularly released in the early 70s. In the 1990s, radio broadcasts started released in the Russian and the Tatar languages. Under the direction of R.R. Samarkina, radio Neftekhim began broadcasting on the wavelength of 105.1 FM on 29 August 1996.
From 1 January 2015, reporters of Neftekhim Media LLC have conducted the NKNH radio chronicle.
